Our 2026 Price Comparison report is ready, after months of work. Starting in January 2026, a committee of FCAWM trustees began the biennial price survey of funeral homes in western Massachusetts. By the end of April after contacting 83 funeral homes the committee determined there were 81 active businesses. General price lists were collected from 78, bringing the success rate to a record 96%.
Care was taken to validate data for the cost of Immediate Burial, Direct Cremation, Basic Service Fee, Embalming, the least cost casket and the least cost vault/outer burial container. These costs are displayed in a sortable table along with links to a PDF of the scanned General Price List (GPL) the committee obtained. The consumer may use this link to read the GPL and learn the cost of additional services.
