Filing Complaints in Massachusetts

Funeral directors and funeral homes are licensed and regulated by the Board of Registration in Embalming and Funeral Directing, which is administered by Division of Occupational Licensure within the MA Office of Consumer Affairs. If you have a complaint about a licensee, visit this webpage or download this form.

If you are having a problem with a cemetery, contact the local cemetery commission that manages that cemetery, or the Select Board or Mayor of the town or city in which it is located. If the problem isn’t resolved there, contact the Attorney General’s Office, Consumer Advocacy and Response Division. Call the Consumer Hotline: 617-727-8400 or use this online form: Complaint About a Business?

NOTE: It is important to document times, dates, names and a summary of your conversation regarding your complaint.
