On Monday, September 29, at a public hearing (viewable via livestream 9am-1pm), several bills concerning death care are on the Agenda. We are especially interested in H.2444, An Act expanding after-death care options. Other bills of interest are H.2374, An Act relative to burial assistance, and H.2436, filed by State Rep. Homer Gómez of Easthampton to eliminate OCME fees for removal of a child’s body.
Written testimony can be submitted anytime now, before or after the hearing until the relevant bill is acted upon. See instructions on the Agenda page, e.g., “Please include ‘Public Health Committee Testimony, [Relevant Bill Number]’ in the subject line of the email.”
You may view the livestream under the Hearings & Events section of the legislative website. Later, a video archive of the hearing should become available.
