The Massachusetts Board of Registration of Embalming and Funeral Directing welcomed us today (June 16, 2015) and received our comments about the revision of their rules and regulations.  Carol Coan, Susie Maddern and I traveled to Boston in response to this invitation on the board’s webpage:

NOTICE: Public Outreach Meeting on Regulations Governing Embalming and Funeral Directing

The Board of Registration in Embalming and Funeral Directing will hold a public outreach meeting on June 16, 2015 to solicit ideas and suggestions for potential revisions to 239 CMR 3.00-5.00, the regulations governing embalming and funeral directing. This initial meeting is being held in light of Executive Order 562, issued by Governor Baker on March 31, 2015.

In preparation for this meeting, we wrote a letter summarizing our comments. Our letter was well-received and several members of the Board and the staff expressed thanks for our participation. We (and the public) are welcome to send additional comments.  A good process is underway. There will be meetings this summer (first Tuesdays of each month, 1pm-) to develop a revised draft of the regulations.

“The Board welcomes the submission of written comments, which can be sent by firstclass mail or by e-mail to: yadi.rivera@state.ma.us. Submissions should be sent to the Board prior to June 22, 2015. Questions on this meeting should be directed to the Board office, which can be reached at (617) 727-9970.

We were especially happy to meet Carol Lindsay, the consumer representative on this Board, and she was glad to hear about our organization.
