Today, January 17, 2023, is the final date for submission of comments to the FTC about the proposed updating of the Funeral Rule. As of 5:30pm today, the official government site reported a total of 546 comments. Our document from FCAWM was submitted last Friday, and posted today. Note: 128 comments were posted today (the first work day after the long weekend), as FTC staff were catching up with the flurry of comments submitted as the deadline approached. [Update: 602 Comments was the final tally, visible a few days later.]
Visit https://www.regulations.gov/comment/FTC-2022-0067-0428 if you’d like to see the comments. You can search by keyword, or search by date received, or simply browse through the list. The keyword “FCA” will quickly find our submission as well as others from (or about) Funeral Consumers Alliance affliates. A search on “director” will bring up the comments from various funeral director associations or individuals identifying themselves as funeral directors.
We are thankful that so many of the comments are in support to FTC’s proposal to mandate that funeral homes must post their General Price Lists on their websites, to give public access 24/7.
