Two opportunities (Oct 21 & 22 ) to learn about eco-friendly improvements in Death Care Options:
Our colleagues in FCA of Eastern Massachusetts invite us to their educational program on Earth-Friends Deathcare, to be held (virtually) on Saturday, October 21, 3:00pm, in conjunction with their Annual Meeting. Guest speakers:
- Katrine Spade, founder of Recompose, a public-benefit company developing a natural alternative to conventional cremation and burial.
- State Rep. Natalie Higgins, co-author of the Act to Expand Death Care Options (H.2193/S.1339)
- Eva Moseley, Green Burial Massachusetts
Discussion will cover more climate-friendly body disposition methods proposed in the state legislature: NOR – natural organic reduction and AH – alkaline hydrolysis. Click here for information and how to register for Zoom access to this FCAEM event.
The following day, Sunday, October 22, 2-4pm, our FCAWM Annual Meeting & Program “What’s New and What’s Changing to Help Funeral Consumers?” will include relevant topics. Dalilah Rain, UMass Chan Medical School, will speak about new greener options in the Anatomical Gift Program. Joan Pillsbury will update us about Green Burial Massachusetts, and other speakers will report on monitoring state legislation to legalize NOR and AK. See our full meeting announcement here. Or view/download our colorful FLYER here, and help us spread the word. Thank you.
